Last season marked the first edition of the Las Vegas Grand Prix in Formula 1. At over 300 kilometres per hour, the drivers tore across the strip of the world's most famous gambling city. For a year already, the city had been prepared for the F1 race. A report showed that F1 fans spent about $561 million over the weekend.

Economic impact from the Las Vegas GP

The weekend had a total of 145,000 visitors. According to the report, shared at a Preview Las Vegas panel, the average visitor spent about $4,100 ($561 billion in total). The figures have not yet been officially released. More details are expected in a few weeks. It is expected that the economic impact figures could even reach $1.2 billion.

During the first free practice of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, Carlos Sainz drove over a loose manhole cover, which caused an extended second free practice. Fans were not allowed to attend, as, at 4:00 local time, the road would be open to traffic again. Fans who missed the first free practice almost entirely and also had to skip the second free practice were compensated for the missed F1 sessions.
