Megacrash involving ten cars causes red flag in race ePrix Rome
A huge crash took place during the Rome ePrix. Sam Bird caused this crash which also caused Sebastian Buemi and Robin Frijns, among others, to lose pieces of the car. As far as we know, everyone is okay, but many cars have huge damage. It remains to be seen whether the cars can be repaired before the race on Sunday.
Bird hit the barrier just after a blind turn. Although double yellow flags were waved, it was not possible for the drivers who arrived at full speed to see where the incident had taken place. They also did not know where exactly on the track there were debris, they only found out after they passed the blind bend. It was then too late for a number of drivers to avoid Bird's car. Edoardo Mortaro hit the Englishman's Jaguar full in the side.
Bird was checked into the medical center but was not injured in the incident. This was without a doubt the biggest crash ever in the electric series.
