Crash causes Michael Fassbender to retire at 24 Hours of Le Mans
With just under four hours to go in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a major crash took place in the LM GTE Am class. Michael Fassbender lost his car, landing in the tyre pile with his Proton Competition with start number 911. Meanwhile, the car officially retired.
The Irishman, who has also featured in several Hollywood films, was completing the final laps of his stint. The disappointment at Proton Racing is huge, the team announced via Twitter.
We are gutted! Car #911 is no longer running the Le Mans 24 race. Few minutes before the end of his stint #MichaelFassbender lost control of the car and went into the barrier with no chances to repair the damage.
