Williams releases junior driver Dan Ticktum with immediate effect

The Williams Formula One team has officially terminated its partnership with junior driver Dan Ticktum. The 22-year-old racer, who made the switch to Williams from the Red Bull junior programme last year, now finds himself without a team.
Dan Ticktum was officially shown the door by Williams last week, the team confirms to Formula1.com. Williams didn't give a reason for the departure but confirmed that the partnership was terminated with immediate effect, with still half of the season to go.
The pool of reserve and sim drivers at the Williams driver academy now contains one less driver. They can however still count on Jamie Chadwick, Jack Aitken and Roy Nissany.
Criticism of Latifi?
Because the reason for his departure was not explained, speculation about the causes of the soured relationship has already begun. As reported by The Race, around the same time as the dismissal, Ticktum has made critical remarks about Williams-driver about Nicholas Latifi, who scored his first points for the team in Hungary.
