Valtteri Bottas set to miss FP1 at the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix weekend
Formula 1 teams and drivers will return from their summer holidays, including Valtteri Bottas. The Finnish Formula 1 driver has been enjoying cycling adventures with his girlfriend, Tiffany Cromwell, during the summer break. But for Bottas, he will get an extra hour of summer break because he will miss the first free practice. Robert Shwartzman will replace Bottas as part of the team's mandatory rookie practice sessions.
Why Bottas will miss FP1
Robert Shwartzman was once tipped for a bright future in Formula 1, but the youngster has dropped off the radar in recent years. He was a long standing member of the Ferrari Academy and finished in the top four of the Formula 2 World Championship on two occasions. The 24-year-old's best chances of a future in Formula 1 seem to be slipping away, but he remains one of the reserve drivers at Ferrari and in the mix for a future seat.
He will get the chance to experience a practice session, which every team must do twice across the Formula 1 season. This time, it is Bottas' turn to miss out on a practice session. The Sauber team are working in partnership with Ferrari to give young talent the chance to shine.
Bottas will return to the car for the rest of the weekend. The Finn has yet to score a point in the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship and sits at the bottom of the standings.
