Pierre Waché on Red Bull problems and solutions

Waché acknowledges difficulties for Red Bull and points to solution

Red Bull Racing have faced several problems with the car over the past few races. Despite this, the team is still on top in both championships. Yet McLaren are close behind in the constructors' championship. Technical director Pierre Waché acknowledges the difficulties experienced by Red Bull and sees an area for improvement.

While Red Bull managed to win 21 out of 22 races last year, this season is not going as smoothly. The competition have come closer and the RB20 has not been working as well as hoped lately. Among other things, Max Verstappen has suffered from both understeer and oversteer several times during Grands Prix.

Where are Red Bull Racing's problems coming from?

Speaking to Motorsport.com, Waché says that simulations are an issue the team needs to improve. In fact, the Milton Keynes-based racing stable has the oldest wind tunnel in the field. The technical director says that work on a new wind tunnel will be carried out in the coming years.

Yet the wind tunnel is not the most important aspect of a Formula 1 team, according to the Frenchman. "The people are always the most important, but as in any organisation, if you don't have the tools, then the people cannot deliver anything." Waché stresses that it is a combination of the two and that Red Bull's success depends on it.
