F1 Today Verstappen on 2024 title Mercedes to improve

Max Verstappen currently leads the drivers' standings by 78 points ahead of Lando Norris, but does not think he has the 2024 title secured already, and would like to keep one eye on his rivals. Elsewhere, Mercedes trackside engineering director Andrew Shovlin explained where Mercedes could still improve.

Verstappen doesn't think title is in the bag

According to the three-time world champion, his fourth world title is still a long way away from him. The Dutchman believes there are no easy titles in Formula One, and also underlined that 'anything can still happen' when talking to to F1TV.

Verstappen also explained a couple of things he does not like. First, the Dutchman declared that he wants to live in the moment, and that he does not want to know what the future holds for him. The defending world champion was also honest about the media duties he has to do as a Formula One driver. He believes they are too repetative to do every time.

Red Bull junior Arvin Lindblad also explained what its like to get recognised by figures in the sport such as Helmut Marko or Max Verstappen. At the same time, the Red Bull advisor is not sitting still either. After a two day event at Jerez, the Austrian advisor signed two youngsters to the Red Bull family.

Mercedes look for improvement, Drivers' order to change at McLaren

Following improvement during the last Grands Prix weekends, Mercedes hope this trend could continue further. The Germans have won three out of races. Andrew Shovlin named where their rivals, Max Verstappen and McLaren are still ahead of them at the moment.

At McLaren, according to Sky Sports pundit Karun Chandhok, Oscar Piastri has improved a lot already entering the summer break in his second season. The former F1 driver also predicts Piastri to outscore Norris during the rest of the season.
