Bearman wishing for this F2 driver to join him in F1: "He deserves it"
Oliver Bearman will be the latest rookie to enter the world of Formula 1 when he joins Haas F1 for the 2025 season. The Ferrari junior driver may not be having a great F2 season this year, but his performances behind the wheel of an F1 car have been very promising, most notably his brilliant seventh place at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix after replacing an unwell Carlos Sainz. But the Brit also wants to see another rookie in F1 next year. Andrea Kimi Antonelli.
Bearman "hopes to fight for a world championship" with his F2 teammate
Both Bearman and Antonelli race for Prema in F2, with the latter having a much more successful season. The Italian sits seventh in the standings with 87 points, earning a sprint race win at the British Grand Prix, followed by a superb feature race victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Since the news broke that Lewis Hamilton was leaving Mercedes for Ferrari, Antonelli's name has been heavily linked to the seat, and the super licence rules were changed to allow the 17-year-old into F1 for the 2025 season.
Speaking to Sky Sports before the British Grand Prix last month, Bearman had high praise for his Prema teammate: "I've known Kimi for a long time. We raced each other a little bit in Formula 4, a lot on the simulator, and now we're teammates in F2. We've always been following each other and stepping up around the same time.
"I hope for him that he will be in F1 as well because he deserves it. One day I hope to fight for a world championship with him because I think that's the trajectory that we're both aiming for," concluded the Brit, hoping that he and Antonelli can share their F1 dream together next season.
