After a mostly dry and sunny Formula 1 weekend in Belgium, the subsequent Pirelli test had some wet weather. The first day of testing remained dry, but on day two the weather gods were less favourable to the participating teams. Nevertheless, Stoffel Vandoorne made many miles on behalf of Aston Martin after Esteban Ocon had earlier been in action for Alpine.

Pirelli F1 test at Spa-Francorchamps ends with rain

After a sunny first day of testing at Spa-Francorchamps, the forecast was for dry weather again on Wednesday, allowing work on the development of the new slicks for 2025 to continue without any problems. However, the unpredictable weather conditions in the Ardennes struck, and rain began to fall on Wednesday morning.

Both Vandoorne and Ocon covered the necessary kilometres on a dry Spa-Francorchamps on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Vandoorne was due to drive again, as was Alpine reserve Jack Doohan, who completed 15 laps on Wednesday morning. However, as it started to rain, the plan was changed and after this, only Vandoorne took to the track with the aim of testing wet tyres and intermediates.

The next tyre test for the 2025 F1 season will take place the week after the Italian Grand Prix, on 3 and 4 September. Red Bull Racing, Visa Cash App RB and Mercedes will be at the Monza circuit to test the new slicks together with Pirelli.
