Norris will 'challenge' McLaren's decision to let Piastri past in Hungary
McLaren's controversial decision to let Oscar Piastri past Lando Norris will be spoken about long into the night. Did McLaren make the right decision? Lando Norris is not convinced and will be challenging his team's late call.
"Of course, I'm going to just question it and challenge it, and that's what I did," Norris began in the post-race press conference. "I was going to wait until the last lap, the last corner, but then they said if there was a safety car all of a sudden then I couldn't let Oscar go through, then it would’ve made me look like a bit of an idiot so I thought that’s a fair point, and I let him go, with two to go or something, and straight away I let him go. That's just your opinion of what you hear, but that's the same with all sports," the Brit explained.
Norris was 'always going to give it back'
As the gap between Norris and Piastri extended, it appeared as if Norris was standing firm, not letting his teammate through. With just a few laps to go, Norris slowed up on the straight and let Piastri by. "You can make what you will of what you hear and what you think you know and that kind of stuff, but I know that I always was going to give it back unless they changed their mind on what they were saying, and they didn't, so all good," Norris concluded.
