After 'demanding' feedback from Verstappen, Monaghan hopes for better performance
Max Verstappen has made it clear that Red Bull Racing's updates in Hungary are very important. After all, this is going to say a lot about the rest of the season. Paul Monaghan, Red Bull Racing's chief engineer, welcomes his driver's feedback.
Verstappen was clear during media interviews on Thursday: these updates have to work, otherwise, it will be tough for Red Bull. The reining con tructors world champions have been caught up by the competition throughout 2024. McLaren has been hot on Red Bull's heels since Miami, Mercedes has joined them since Canada and in Monaco Ferrari won another Grand Prix.
Monaghan stresses the importance of updates
The fact that Verstappen is voicing his concerns and putting pressure on his team is not a problem at all, according to Monaghan. Whether all concerns can be addressed with these updates, the Red Bull chief does not yet know: ''He wants to win the race I dare say, which we'll find out on Sunday afternoon. So we've done a lot of work in the past few months to try and see if we can extract a bit more from it. We think we've got some ways to do that, we will find out,'' Monaghan said.
Red Bull hoping Perez can 'fly' again
''Max is typically demanding of us but I think he places the same against himself. Checo, we're doing all that we can to help him, he can drive can’t he, there aren’t any doubts about that, he's won races with us, so we just need to help him recover his confidence and belief and I'm sure he can fly again. We're all part of the same team and we want the best for everyone in it so we will do our utmost to give them what they need in terms of their feedback good, constructive helpful never negative it's always constructive criticism.'' Red Bull's chief engineer concluded.
