Red Bull pit crew recover: fastest pit stop Verstappen at Silverstone
- Corwin Kunst
Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing may not have walked away with victory at Silverstone, but the pit stops were old-fashioned gold again at the Austrian racing stable. Verstappen's four tyres were changed in a time of 1.99 seconds.
Just last weekend in Austria, things went wrong with Verstappen's pit stop. Partly because it took longer than usual, Lando Norris was able to get within a second behind the Dutchman so as to have DRS. The two then crashed together on the Red Bull Ring.
Sergio Perez's pit stop was also excellent. Red Bull's pit crew needed exactly two seconds, ony one hundredth more than during Verstappen's stip. Alpine came closest with Esteban Ocon's 2.18-second pit stop.
In the DHL Fastest Pistop Award standings, Red Bull Racing are miles ahead of nearest rival Ferrari anyway. The Italian racing stable is more than 100 points behind.
