Briatore on return: 'We have to compete at the front again'
Alpine recently caused a stir in the Formula 1 paddock by announcing Flavio Briatore as an advisor to the team. The Italian was suspended for a while in the past following the handling of the crashgate scandal. At least the protagonist himself is happy about his return to the premier class of motorsport.
Briatore says 'it is nice to be back' in the world of F1
"It's nice to be back. I love this team (Alpine) it has always been my team. First, it was called Benetton, then Renault. But it has actually always stayed the same and it's an honour to be back. I am very grateful to Luca de Meo (CEO of Alpine) for wanting me to be an adviser to him," the flamboyant Italian told Viaplay.
Briatore is clear about his goals with the Alpine team. "We have to become competitive again. We don't want to be tourists going around the world 24 times a year. The team has to be combative and believe in the team spirit, then we can become competitive again. That's what Luca wants, that's what the fans want and that's what the company wants. Everyone wants to be competitive."
