Max Verstappen has again received a new engine from Red Bull Racing. It is his fourth of the season and thus the last change he can make without receiving a grid penalty from the FIA.

Verstappen will race in the Spanish Grand Prix with a new powerunit, as will Carlos Sainz and Pierre Gasly. In addition, Verstappen and teammate Sergio Perez have received a new gearbox. So have George Russell and Daniel Ricciardo.

At the previous Formula 1 race in Canada, Verstappen also initially drove with a new engine, but after technical problems during the second free practice, Red Bull was forced to go back to the old power unit. While Honda is in Japan investigating what is wrong with the engine, Verstappen will drive his fourth power unit of the year in Barcelona.

Whether Canada's engine can be used after repairs is not yet known. Meanwhile, the Dutchman has already reached the maximum number of engines he can use during the season. Another change to a new engine - already used engines can be used indefinitely - will land him a grid penalty.
