Is another F1 team in the running for Adrian Newey?
Adrian Newey is perhaps the most sought-after name in the Formula 1 world at the moment. The designer, who is leaving Red Bull Racing in early 2025, has recently been linked with a move to Ferrari and Williams. However, according to The Telegraph, Aston Martin is also still trying to bring in the technical mastermind.
Is Aston Martin in the running for Newey?
Newey recently hinted that he is likely to stay in Formula 1. According to rumours, he is already in advanced talks with Ferrari, but his manager Eddie Jordan has strongly denied these links. Apart from Ferrari, the 65-year-old Briton was also linked to Williams, where team boss James Vowles has openly admitted to being in talks with the master designer. Mercedes and McLaren are also said to be interested.
Aston Martin was also mentioned earlier this year but seemed to be written off. According to De Telegraaf, the British team could still bring him into their Silverstone base. Team owner Lawrence Stroll would indeed try to bring Newey to Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll's team. He is even said to have already been given a private tour of the F1 team's new factory at Silverstone.
Deep pockets will have to be reached to attract the designer. According to the Dutch newspaper, Lawrence Stroll would have a multimillion-dollar contract ready for Newey, who will mainly focus on the hypercar he designed, the RB17, for the rest of this year.
