'Ferrari want to bring forward major upgrade from Silverstone to Barcelona'
- Corwin Kunst
Ferrari is making every effort to arrive at the start in Spain with a major update in a week and a half from now, Italian Form1a.uno reports. Initially, the formation from Maranello intended to arrive at Silverstone with the necessary new parts, but the plan is to speed up production by several weeks.
At Imola a month ago, Ferrari came out with the first major update of the season, after which the next serious step forward was due in the first week of July at Silverstone. So now, however, that should start happening in Spain.
Especially the floor is said to have been taken in hand, which should ensure that Ferrari gets the tyres faster and in a better window. Above all, the update would also give Ferrari more downforce, about ten points more.
Spain brings advantage
Apart from the fact that a Formula 1 team always want new parts on the car as soon as possible, introducing the update at the Circuit de Catalunya has another major advantage. Ferrari have an awful lot of historical data from the circuit, especially also because winter testing used to take place there. The weekend in Spain is therefore very representative for testing developments.
