Ocon is secretive after Canada Grand Prix: 'Timing is not right'
Esteban Ocon will leave Alpine at the end of the season. The Formula 1 driver is Pierre Gasly's teammate. Both drivers finished in the points at the Canadian Grand Prix. Ocon is officially still without a contract in the top class of motorsport next season, and the Frenchman remained secretive about his future.
Did Ocon put himself in the spotlight?
After the Canadian Grand Prix, Ocon was not exactly happy with Alpine's team orders. Indeed, Ocon was instructed by his team to let Gasly go ahead. Anyway, in the points though. After the race, Ocon was asked if he has put himself in the spotlight with a possible new employer in Formula 1.
"We'll see," he began. "Obviously, I started last. We took the right choices at every single point. I was able to fight a lot of quicker cars as well in that moment. That felt good, obviously, but it's a little bit of a bitter end. So I'm optimistic for the rest of the year. I can push that car to the maximum. But there is a lot to do all together with this team."
Does Ocon have any news yet?
When asked if Ocon could make an announcement soon, the Frenchman was somewhat secretive. "I will announce when the timing is right. And it’s not right at the minute," he hinted on Sunday in Canada.
