Hamilton misses out on podium in Canadian GP less podiums

Hamilton disagreed with Mercedes: 'If I knew, I'd have stayed out'

Lewis Hamilton just missed out on the podium at the Canadian Grand Prix. The seven-time world champions crossed the finish line less than a second behind his teammate, George Russell. The Briton was not completely satisfied with the result in North America.

"On the one side, I'm happy that we are progressing. That’s the positive to take out of this weekend. It was a pretty disastrous afternoon yesterday, and then today was pretty shocking. I can't say that I am particularly happy," Hamilton told GPblog among others following the Grand Prix.

He continued: "Today, I could have just driven better. Less mistake. I was stuck behind Fernando [Alonso], so there was nothing I could really do there. Lots of lots of mistakes over the weekend as a whole, but most importantly [I need] to take performance and to try to improve."

Entering the final stint of the race, George Russell was on the mediums, while Mercedes gave Hamilton a set of hard tyres. "Yes, he was on the medium tyre. It was much faster, so the medium tyre was really quick, and then I went to the tyre and the grip was terrible on it. I didn't actually know he was going to a medium tyre, otherwise I would have stayed out."

"I have no clue, I do not quite understand what happened. I think maybe he went on the hard before." Hamilton explained.
