This is how Sergio Perez reacted to his disastrous Canadian GP weekend
Sergio Perez extended his contract at Red Bull Racing earlier this week, but this weekend, as in Monaco, he did not show his best side. After a disappointing qualifying session, the Mexican also crashed during the race, again failing to score any points. After the race, the Red Bull driver reacts to his disappointing weekend.
Perez is clearly in a down phase since McLaren and Ferrari have blossomed. Not only can the Mexican not match Verstappen's speed. He is also a lot slower than drivers at rival teams. This ensures that Red Bull has less and less margin in the constructors' championship.
Perez's reaction after terrible weekend in Canada
After the Grand Prix, Perez said: "It was a very difficult weekend. The first part of the race was compromised from the damage with Gasly. The second part of the race was looking a lot better. The third part of the race, we were just stuck there."
He continued: "There was only one line, so we couldn't get by. Unfortunately, that meant that, in the end, I was coming back and then ended up making a mistake in turn six, which was one of the most difficult corners where a lot of drivers made mistakes. But unfortunately, I couldn't control the car. I made a mistake. I think it's time to regroup and put our heads down. There is a long season. Two races ago, we've been on form. I can get back to that level, no doubt."
The competition has moved closer. Perez also notices this, although he thinks better times are coming soon for his team: "I think definitely there will be good tracks coming up that hopefully we can be on top form and be able to get the points."
