Sainz names best Grand Prix: 'Nothing beats this weekend'
Formula 1 today, thanks in part to the addition of races in Las Vegas and Miami, focuses more on glitz and glamour than before. But according to Carlos Sainz, Monaco stands alone in that respect. The Spanish Ferrari driver therefore hopes the race will be retained at all costs.
Sainz is a true Monaco enthusiast, as evidenced by his past results there. Never before has he finished outside the points in the principality. The 29-year-old racer therefore did not fail to express his affinity to GPblog among others. "I'm sorry for the other ones but no one I think beats Monaco and no one ever will," he said.
Sainz wants to create overtaking opportunities
Nevertheless, the two-time Grand Prix winner does acknowledge that the Monaco Grand Prix has to deal with its challenges. "The only thing that they beat in Monaco is the show on race day which in Monaco is a bit boring sometimes. And I want to from here to push a bit in the sense of if there's an opportunity to create an overtaking spot around Monaco have a look at the city have a look at the layout and make an effort to make that happen because it would make Monaco such a better track."
If successful, Sainz believes the Formula 1 race in Monaco has a bright future ahead. "It would leave us all still waiting for Sunday rather than knowing that if nothing happens on Sunday. I wouldn't underestimate the changes to Imola and Monaco, this kind of circuit can stay for the future with a change."
