Hamilton 'tried to apologise' to Verstappen after FP2 incident
Arch rivals Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen had yet another run-in in FP2 at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. After the session, The seven-time world champion said Verstappen was already 'too frustrated' in practice, although admits that the incident was his mistake and 'tried to apologise' to the Dutchman.
Speaking to Sky Sports about his practice session, Hamilton said: "It's been a good start to the weekend. We're a lot closer than we have been it seems. We'll see how tomorrow goes but yeah, really grateful to everyone back at the factory for pushing so hard to bring these upgrades. We are seeing improvements in the power and outperformance on that."
Tension between Verstappen and Hamilton once again
Speaking on the incident with Verstappen, Hamilton said: "Geez, I was on a cooldown lap. I thought I was well clear, would have been well clear. But all of a sudden he was like right on me and ultimately it was my mistake and I tried to apologise. He was already too frustrated."
Hamilton finished FP2 in fourth place in an improved Mercedes. Verstappen struggled throughout the day, finishing seventh in FP2.
