McLaughlin first in rain-disrupted FP3 ahead of Indy 500, O'Ward seventh
In the third free practice for the Indy 500, Scott McLaughlin set the fastest time. Arrow McLaren's Pato O'Ward set the seventh-best time behind teammate Alexander Rossi in fifth. Former Formula 1 drivers Marcus Ericcson and Romain Grosjean finished 16th and 18th respectively.
The third free practice for the legendary Indy 500 was plagued by rain. The first day of practice also saw heavy rain, with the session cancelled after only 23 minutes, after which it was decided to cancel the rest of the day as well due to persistent rain.
Rain again during FP3 Indy 500
On the second day of testing, during the third free practice, the drivers had longer to test. In this, McLaughlin thus set the fastest time, followed by Will Power, who was 0.1246 seconds slower than the New Zealander. O'Ward was seventh quickest, with a gap of 0.0076 to McLaughlin.
Saturday and Sunday will see qualifying for the Indy 500. On Sunday, May 26, racing will finally take place.
