Critical Frijns gets support: another driver is all done with Formula E

Robin Frijns was particularly outspoken last weekend. Speaking exclusively to GPblog, the Dutchman explained how he has lost the joy of racing in Formula E. "It's cycling. It's peloton," the Envision Racing driver told this site. In his criticism, Frijns is not alone. The always outspoken Jean-Eric Vergne now joins the words of his Formula E colleague.

The two races in Berlin last weekend confirmed once again that these days in Formula E it is not about going around as fastest. It's saving energy and trying to outrun the others. "At the Gen-2 that wasn't there at all. If you were fast then, you were at the front and could win or get on the podium. In Gen-3, that is no longer the case," Frijns told GPblog last weekend. "It has more to do with luck and staying out of trouble than anything else."

Vergne threatens to quit Formula E

Vergne, turning out for DS Penske and never shy about voicing his peppery opinion, fully agrees with Frijns. "It’s horrible, honestly, I really don’t like this style of racing, I hate it," Motorsport.com quoted the Frenchman as saying. "I think every driver hates it, but I think it’s the way we have to race. We’re here to compete, we’re here to win. If we have to drive in reverse, we are going to learn how to drive in reverse but it doesn’t mean that I like this kind of racing."
