VCARB determined to stay ahead of Haas
After the weekend in China, Visa Cash App RB sit in sixth place in the constructors' championship with seven points. In doing so, they are two points clear of Haas F1 Team. They intend to stay that way, with the help of new upgrades in Miami.
A fierce battle between RB and Haas
With the competitiveness across the grid, the battle is also fierce between the teams at the back of the field. The Visa Cash App RB and Haas teams are also engaged in an intense battle. During the races, Haas and RB often find themselves close to each other on the track. Laurent Mekies, team boss of Visa Cash App RB, is determined to stay ahead of Haas.
"We have never been confident that we have the quickest car of the five [teams at the back]," Mekies told Autosport. "But it’s a fantastic exercise for everyone. It’s superb training for the team to execute sharp weekends, and you need a strong race from every perspective. It’s only by doing that you will get a point. As soon as one of these elements, be it tyre management, strategy, or anything, falls off the cliff, you will give up that point."
To increase the difference slightly, RB is introducing upgrades during the race in Miami. "There is nothing guaranteed in this group. I’m sure our competitors will bring updates as well and only if you nail the weekend will you get to that P10."
