Ahead of the race, later on Saturday, it is of course first time for qualifying in the streets of Monaco. In case you missed it, GPBlog gives you a quick overview of qualifying so you can watch the race without any worries.
Qualifying began, of course, for Group A, with the difference between P5 and P4 being only 3 hundredths. In the end, Evans, Wehrlein, Günther and Da Costa advance to the duels.
Group B started soon after. The four drivers to advance to the duels were Vandoorne, Cassidy, Buemi and Vergne. Making his qualifying debut in Formula E, Barnard was eliminated. During the session, it is also announced that Sam Bird has broken a bone in his hand.
In the quarter-finals, Wehrlein, Evans, Cassidy and Vandoorne went through, setting up the semi-finals, between Wehrlein and Evans, and Cassidy and Vandoorne. Evans overshot the chicane after the tunnel, and lost his lap time and as a result, Pascal Wehrlein could advance to the final. Former McLaren F1 driver Stoffel Vandoorne on the other hand managed to outqualify Jaguar driver Cassidy. Thus, both Jaguars are eliminated in the semi-finals.
In the final, Vandoorne drove a time of 1:30.304, but Pascal Wehrlein took pole position with a 1:29.861 and starts Saturday's race from P1 on the grid.
