Aston Martin go all out to retain Alonso: 'No plan B or C'

It is still unclear whether Fernando Alonso plans to stay in Formula 1 next year and which team he would prefer to be under contract with. At least at Aston Martin, they are doing everything they can to get the two-time world champion to sign a new contract.
Pedro De La Rosa, Aston Martin ambassador, in conversation with El Larguero de la Cadena SER, states: "The most important thing is to give him reasons to stay with us, by offering him the best possible car." Alonso's contract expires after this season and many teams - including Mercedes - are still looking for drivers for 2025.
"The work with Alonso is going very well and he is very happy with the team. We want him to stay with us, it is very important to have an asset like Fernando in a Formula One team. With results like this weekend (sixth in Japan) and the car getting better and better, we will give him more reasons to choose us," De la Rosa said.
No replacements in sight (yet)
Alonso has postponed a decision on 2025 for now. A team naturally wants clarity as soon as possible, but Aston Martin is giving the 42-year-old driver all the time he needs and is not putting pressure on him. "Within the team, we are not thinking of any other scenario. We want Alonso to stay and we pretend he is staying, there is no plan B, our plan A, B and C is Fernando. We are not looking for an alternative, the team is very happy with Fernando and with Lance (Stroll)."
