Toto Wolff is busy finding a replacement for Lewis Hamilton. Several names have been mentioned in this search. One name that has been mentioned a lot recently is Sebastian Vettel. Lewis Hamilton would like to see this driver come in as his replacement.

While the Formula 1 circus has arrived in Japan, of course, the issues at play earlier continue. Indeed, there is still an empty seat at Mercedes for next season. Max Verstappen is actually at the top of the Austrian team boss's list.

Verstappen just does not seem a realistic option, as the Red Bull is by far the fastest car at the moment. In several interviews over the past few days, Sebastian Vettel has expressed that he has had talks with several team principal, including Toto Wolff. As a result, the German is now being linked with the empty seat at Mercedes.

Vettel to Mercedes?

In Japan, Lewis Hamilton was asked about what he would think about Vettel driving for Mercedes next season. "But I would love for Seb to come back. And I think it would be an amazing option for the team. German driver, multi-world championship winning driver, amazing value to continue to take his team forward."

He also outlines what qualities he thinks are important for his replacement. "The only thing I really care about is that as a driver, the team takes on someone with integrity. Those that are aligned with the team and where the team is going." The seven-time world champion says he is not otherwise concerned with who his replacement will be at Mercedes.
