These records were broken during the Bahrain GP

3 March at 10:30

Every Formula 1 Grand Prix offers great opportunities to break some, sometimes ancient, records. The Bahrain GP was certainly no exception in this regard. GPBlog lists the broken or equalled records, as well as some fun statistics for you.

Max Verstappen's victory marks the seventh time a driver has won the Bahrain GP for at least two years in a row. Lewis Hamilton was the last driver in 2019 and 2020. Lewis Hamilton maintains a 100 percent score when it comes to Q3 appearances. Only four other drivers, including Paul di Resta and Juan Pablo Montoya also have this. This is the 75th time a Grand Prix race did not take place on a Sunday. It is the first F1 race to have taken place on March 2nd. Thus, 20 August is the only day (between March 1st and the 28th of September) that has never been raced on. The winter break between Abu Dhabi and Bahrain was 97 days. That is the shortest winter break since 1978, when there were only 84 days between the two seasons.

Max Verstappen breaks record after record

Max Verstappen is the ninth driver to win a race in nine F1 seasons. He is the fifth driver to have done it in nine consecutive seasons, alongside Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton. Max Verstappen has been in the lead every lap of the race, this being the 13th time he has managed to do so. That puts him level with Jim Clark in fourth place in that ranking. Red Bull's win puts them in fourth place of most wins by constructor. A shared spot with Williams. Lewis Hamilton is the first driver to score points at a race for 18 consecutive seasons. In doing so, he overtakes Jenson Button. Incidentally, after Fernando Alonso, he is the only driver to have driven more than 19,000 laps.
