Red Bull Racing once again surprised the entire field. Not only with their speed during the test days, but also with their new car design. Aston Martin technical director Dan Fallows is positive that the Austrian team has managed to make such changes work.

Since 2022, the latest technical regulations have come into force. This has caused the ranking to look very different in Formula 1. For instance, Mercedes is no longer the dominant Mercedes, but instead Red Bull Racing is now very dominant. Two years after introducing the new rules, Red Bull still manages to bring new surprises. Aston Martin technical director Dan Fallows admires this.

Fallows gets hope from Red Bull developments

When Fallows first saw the pictures of the RB20, he was positively surprised. "No, I thought it's nice to see that people are trying to do things differently. I think really we're all looking to optimise these regulations and try and get the most out of the cars. It's interesting that with two years left to go, there's still things to try. So yeah, good." Very surprisingly, Fallows does not admire the Austrian racing stable, as he was previously the head of aerodynamics at the team.

Can Aston Martin compete with Red Bull?

The British technical director is hopeful but realistic about Aston Martin's chances for the upcoming season. "We're competing against some very strong teams and we know we have to be absolutely at our best. Teams like Red Bull or others who are putting a huge amount of work into it, whether they start early or not. It's a big challenge to get up there. The field is very close. It's a big challenge ahead, but we're absolutely up for it."
