Hamilton's transfer to Ferrari came out of the blue for everyone. In the morning it was still a rumour and by evening it was a concrete fact. Former F1 driver Romain Grosjean did not see the switch coming either. On his YouTube channel, Grosjean gives his thoughts on the move.

The Frenchman stated about the surprise: "No, it is not April 1. I was as surprised as many of you. I didn't expect Lewis to leave Mercedes. They have such a great set up and atmosphere." The ex Haas driver sees history repeating itself: "But Remember 2012. Lewis is a man of challenge. He went from McLaren to Mercedes and everyone was very surprised, especially knowing he grew up with McLaren and they were successful at the time and Mercedes struggled a little bit more."

Strong teammate in Leclerc

Grosjean has not forgotten how Hamilton's Formula 1 career began: "Next to Leclerc, that's going to be an interesting duel. Lewis is not afraid of challenges. When he started at McLaren his teammate was Fernando Alonso. One of the fastest and most competitive teammates you can have in Formula 1." What that means for 2025 according to Grosjean? "That's going to be a good benchmark for 2025," said the Frenchman.
