After his fourth victory in the Dakar Rally, Carlos Sainz sr. takes a moment to thank his son, Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz, for helping him during the race. The Spaniard won his first Dakar Rally for Audi where he drove an all-electric car.
''He helped a lot," Sainz sr told SoyMotor.com. The two spoke before and after each stage where the Ferrari driver gave tips regarding strategy. Sainz jr. feels his father made the rally smarter. Sainz sr. agrees: "It is possible that I have never tackled the Dakar Rally so smartly before."
Thanks from father to son
Sainz sr. is very grateful to his son for the daily support: "I want to thank Carlos. He is very mature, has a good mentality. We talked to each other before and after every stage. Carlos has been a great help." He continued: "If I had a strategy he sometimes knew how to refute it partially or completely. If we had to do it again we wouldn't change anything about the strategy. In that sense, it was a good Dakar."
