Confirmed: Helmut Marko signs a new multi-year contract
A big surprise at Red Bull Racing. It has been confirmed to GPblog that Helmut Marko has signed a new contract with Red Bull GMBH - the umbrella organisation. The Austrian (80) will stay with Red Bull Racing and AlphaTauri for at least three more years.
The extension follows a lot of rumours about an impending farewell to Marko. At the end of 2023, Brazilian media reported that Marko was about to be fired because he would not get along with Red Bull's new management. Dietrich Mateschitz, who passed away in 2022, and Marko were good friends and a new partnership was always concluded with a handshake.
Verstappen wanted to keep Marko
Last week Marko announced that he will remain active for Red Bull Racing and AlphaTauri next season. And now there will be two more seasons. Max Verstappen has always indicated that he thought Marko should stay. The Dutchman still has a contract with Red Bull Racing until mid-2028.
