Sainz says goodbye to personal trainer Max Verstappen

Sainz says goodbye to personal trainer who will now work for Verstappen

3 January at 11:30

Max Verstappen will get a new personal trainer in 2024. Rupert Manwaring will take over from Bradley Scanes, who parted ways with Verstappen and Red Bull Racing after 2023.

Manwaring has previous experience with Formula 1 drivers himself. For eight years, he was the personal trainer of Verstappen's old Toro Rosso teammate Carlos Sainz. The trainer went with the Spaniard to Renault, McLaren and Ferrari.

The father of Verstappen's new trainer is also no stranger to Formula 1. In fact, he spent around 30 years as team manager for Brabham, Lotus and Minardi, among others. Formula 1 is therefore in Manwaring Jr's blood.

Sainz, meanwhile, has shared a message on his Instagram saying goodbye to his personal trainer. He does so in an emotional video. In the Instagram post, the Spaniard wrote: "8 years can't be summed up in one video but here is a little taste of what it has meant! 2023 has been @p1_coach's last season as part of Team 55 and I wouldn't know how to thank you for all your work, dedication and support during these years. Not only have we trained, we have fought together for the same goals and we have had lots of fun along the way! I wish you all the best Ruperto!"
