Mercedes reacts at FIA investigation into Toto Wolff
Mercedes has spoken out following the FIA 's announcement that information leaks between Toto Wolff and Susie Wolff will be investigated. The team is outraged by the FIA's reporting and investigation.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that several team bosses are not happy with Toto Wolff. The team boss allegedly leaks sensitive information from team meetings to his wife Susie, who in turn passes on information she hears at F1 meetings through her role within the F1 Academy. Other teams are questioning this.
What Mercedes says about Wolff's role
The FIA already revealed on Tuesday that it is investigating a team boss, with the name not being mentioned. Now Mercedes itself has put out a statement making it clear that there is absolutely no integrity problem with the Mercedes team boss.
''We note the generic statement from the FIA this evening, which responds to unsubstantiated allegations from a single media outlet, and the off-record briefing which has linked it to the Team Principal of Mercedes-AMG F1,'' a Mercedes spokesperson revealed.
''The Team has received no communication from the FIA Compliance Department on this topic and it was highly surprising to learn of the investigation through a media statement. We wholly reject the allegation in the statement and associated media coverage, which wrongly impinges on the integrity and compliance of our Team Principal. As a matter of course, we invite full, prompt, and transparent correspondence from the FIA Compliance Department regarding this investigation and its contents.''
