Angry Alonso responds to wild Red Bull rumours: 'This has consequences'
Fernando Alonso has reacted for the first time to the wild rumours circulating about a possible switch to Red Bull Racing, where he would replace Sergio Perez. The Aston Martin driver is by no means satisfied with the reports, according to reports ahead of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix in Brazil.
Alonso responds to Red Bull rumours
It all started with a vague tweet from Formula 1 journalist Albert Fabrega, who said he had heard a rumour that he "hopes is not true". What exactly that rumour meant, however, he would not reveal. Following this, speculation about the content of the rumour was rife, including about a possible switch of Alonso to Red Bull, where he would become Max Verstappen's teammate.
Confronted with the rumours, Alonso dismissed them as "normal rumours going around in the paddock". "It is just rumours, normal paddock rumours, from people that are just trying to make fun of it and gain some followers, and these kinds of things," he is quoted by Motorsport.com. "But I'm not into that game."
The 42-year-old Spaniard takes no pleasure at all from such reporting and insists that the rumours are coming from people outside F1 who are making fun of it. Moreover, he is anything but happy with the suggestion that he is unhappy at his current team: "Of course, that's the thing that they are making, but I will make sure that there are consequences," he warned.
