Does Fittipaldi stand a chance of an F1 seat? 'Marko congratulated me'
Red Bull junior Enzo Fittipaldi is currently driving in Formula 2, but perhaps one day the Brazilian driver could make the move to Formula 1. The grandson of F1 world champion Emerson Fittipaldi is currently seventh in the Formula 2 championship.
Marko congratulates Fittipaldi
"When you are in F2, performing is the first step, so as long as I continue with this momentum into the next few race weekends, who knows what could happen," Fittipaldi told Sky Sports. "If you perform and you do very well - in the championship especially - opportunities will show up," the Brazilian continued.
Fittipaldi won the sprint race in Belgium over the weekend at Spa-Francorchamps. "So, right now what I'm focused on is continuing to do well, continuing to improve as a driver every time I go out on track, and hopefully, opportunities will show. [Helmut] Marko congratulated me on the victory during the race weekend," said the Red Bull junior.
Fittipaldi to Formula 1?
As so often in Formula 1, the rumour mill is turning briskly. Few spots are available for the upcoming Formula 1 season, but whether Fittipaldi can enter the best class of motorsport anytime soon remains to be seen.
