Horner on Verstappen's bickering: '200 million people see that'
As so often this Formula 1 season, the Belgian Grand Prix was also won by Max Verstappen. During the race, one of the highlights was the reigning world champion's conversation over the board radio with race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase. Red Bull team boss Christian Horner is definitely not sounding the alarm. In conversation with GPblog and others, he tempers.
Bickering between Lambiase and Verstappen
During the race, there were some moments over the board radio where Verstappen and Lambiase did not seem to completely agree on the right strategy. For example, Lambiase insisted that the Dutchman should follow his strategy, and that Verstappen should not push too hard on the tyres.
"GP [Gianpiero Lambiase] and Max have been together since the first race that Max got in the car. Max is a demanding customer and you have to have a strong character to deal with that," Horner said after the race. He also immediately sees the problem this kind of conversation brings. "The only problem is that conversation between the two of them, there's 200 million people listening to it."
All's well that ends well
"So it's having that trust and bond that's that's so important which is what those two guys what those two guys has," Horner said. "I mean sometimes it gets a bit sparky between the two of them but you know Max is the kind of character that will rev very quickly and it'll come down very quickly, GP doesn't forget so quickly," he concludes.
