Max Verstappen himself did not take issue with a five-second penalty from the stewards for exceeding track limits, but has something to say about how the penalties were awarded. The Dutchman disagreed with the subsequent punishment of the drivers.

"Also that the race result has again changed because of new evidence with the on boards, you know, it's a little bit ridiculous," the Dutchman told GPblog and others in Britain. Afterwards, penalties were handed out to Esteban Ocon, among others, who received a 30-second penalty in total.

"I think it's needed because we can't go back there all the time and basically the only discussion was track limits the whole weekend really," Verstappen said.

No gravel can be laid down next to the track in Austria, as MotoGP also runs a race in its championship at the Red Bull Ring. During the race, 1,200 reports of possible rule violations came in.
