Charles Leclerc has backtracked on his criticism of Ferrari's strategy during qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix, at least so claims Ferrari team boss Frederic Vasseur. Leclerc had publicly complained about his Italian team's strategy after qualifying on Saturday.

The 25-year-old Monegasque was not to be trifled with after he was stranded in Q2 on Saturday in Canada. The driver had to start the race tenth. Leclerc still managed to finish fourth in the end, just off the podium.

Leclerc and Vasseur aligned

Leclerc had announced that there would be another internal discussion and analysis. This was because it was not the first time something like this had happened. The discussion did take place, but with a different outcome: "We had a good conversation and he said, 'OK, I was wrong'," Vasseur was quoted as saying by Motorsport-Total.com.

However, the French team boss stresses that he does not find the reaction incomprehensible: "I can understand very well when they get out of the car after bad results and are asked by someone: Were you happy with this strategy? Then they will definitely say no," Vasseur said.
