After the so successful '22 season, Christian Horner already couldn't believe his luck. Back then, he talked about the best year ever for his Red Bull Racing. The current year is going even better for Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez. In Miami, the Austrian team celebrated its fourth one-two of the season.

In Horner's words to Sky Sports, disbelief at the current performance was clearly audible: "Five races, five wins. We've never had a start like this and we're wondering where are the others? We made a normal step over the winter, it's more that where did Mercedes and Ferrari go? "

Penalty still going to have an effect

For now, the distance to Aston Martin is great, to Ferrari and Mercedes many times greater. In the short term, these teams do not seem to be a threat to Red Bull. "They're working hard on upgrades for Europe," Horner said. "With the penalty we have later in the year it's important for us to get as much air between us and the opposition at this stage of the season."

The team boss expects that already in the short term the effects of the penalty, which Red Bull received after exceeding the budget cap, will become clear. "I think you'll see from the next race, we have to be selective in what we test and how we develop. Thankfully the car has got off to a good start. I do expect it to converge later in the year."
