No second celebration Ferrari: Giovinazzi loses fastest time at Spa

More than an hour after Charles Leclerc surprisingly put Ferrari on pole for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the Italian team also seemed to capture the first starting position in World Endurance Championship (WEC) qualifying. There was euphoria in the pit box the moment Antonio Giovinazzi had sent his Ferrari fastest around the track in the Belgian Ardennes.
The joy proved short-lived, as a few minutes later that time was taken away from him. The former F1 driver had exceeded track limits. So no first place, but a third for Giovinazzi in the number 51 Ferrari. The Italian team's other car - of which Miguel Molina was behind the wheel, moved up to second place as a result.
Crash Hartley with Toyota
In the end, it was the Toyota of Kamui Kobayashi that benefited the most from Giovinazzi's penalty. A Toyota in the first starting spot is no surprise. That the Japanese marque's second car crashed during qualifying for the race in the World Endurance Race, and therefore starts last among hypercars, is. Brendon Hartley had a brief moment of oversteer, only to see his Toyota come to a stop in the tyre barriere.
