To move from Formula 2 to Formula 1 is not that no easy. Sometimes it has to do with talent, sometimes there is simply no room at the F1 teams. F2 drivers sometimes choose to walk a different path, such as Formula E. Jehan Daruvala also sees F2 as a springboard for a career in electric racing.

At twenty-four years old, Daruvala is no longer the youngest in F2 and is starting his fourth season this year. Yet he is enjoying success: in 2022, he finished third in the championship with Prema. Now he wants to try his luck with Dutch MP Motorsport.

Besides his position as an F2 driver, the Indian was recently offered a role in FE, that of reserve driver at Mahindra Racing. To MotorsportWeek.com he reveals that he sees this as a good learning opportunity. He is also appreciative of Mahindra's drivers, Lucas di Grassi and Oliver Rowland:

“It’s definitely good to have two drivers in the team who have a lot of experience – it’s probably the best team to be in and to be learning from two experienced drivers, they don’t keep anything from me.”

Daruvala says the high pressure he experiences in F2 will help him with a career in FE. He is also pleased to see former F2 drivers like Dan Ticktum and Jake Hughes performing well in the electric class. “The guys coming from Formula 2 are at a good level and can compete right at the front," said the Indian.
