Another transfer for Alonso? 'Very possible'
- GPblog.com
Fernando Alonso has yet to start his first season at Aston Martin, but the Spaniard can already count on interest from another team. Andretti Global - which hopes to be admitted to the F1 grid - sees him as the perfect driver for the team.
Speaking to SoyMotor.com Mario Andretti admits that the prospect of having Fernando Alonso's experience is attractive to the potential team. "It is very possible, of course," Andretti said. "His experience is immeasurable and it would be a tremendous thing for us, so we’re going to look at it. I think he wants to keep racing and he’s still in his prime."
Herta number two
It is no secret that Andretti has its eye on Colton Herta to become one of the team's drivers. The youngster currently competes for Andretti's Indycar team. Herta previously saw off a move to AlphaTauri because he does not have enough points for a superlicence. This is also a hurdle yet to be cleared for an entry with Andretti Global in F1.
Andretti hoped to hear before Christmas whether its entry into Formula 1 is agreed, but that seems to be getting impossible. In any case, with investment company Guggenheim Partners, the team has found a party willing to take care of the $200 million entry fee. This removes at least one important hurdle.
