A victory for Hamilton in 2022: 'I'm so proud of the team'

Lewis Hamilton's Extreme E team, X44, won the title in the electric racing class on Sunday. The seven-time world champion is proud of his drivers after a late comeback in the title race.
Hamilton and former Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg no longer race each other in Formula 1, but the old title rivals still compete in the Extreme E series. The two drivers both have their own teams there. Last year, Rosberg's team won the first championship in the electric racing class, but this season the roles were reversed. X44 drivers Cristina Gutierrez and Sebastien Loeb beat Rosberg X Racing at the very last minute.
Hamilton's team left for the final race of the season trailing by 17 points, but Rosberg's team was disqualified in the semi-finals. As a result, a top-three finish for X44 would be enough to clinch the title. After the race, Hamilton reacted proudly on his Instagram.
Hamilton reacts to title win
"I am so blown away by this comeback after such a difficult day yesterday. The team rebuilding, staying positing (sic) and coming out fighting. Wow, I’m so proud of the team and these two amazing drivers," the Mercedes driver writes on his Instagram Stories. Rosberg and Hamilton are not the only well-known names in the racing class. For instance, former F1 driver Jenson Button is competing in the series with his own team and McLaren is also participating in Extreme E.
