Leclerc thanks Binotto: 'My respect for you has never diminished'
- GPblog.com
On Tuesday, Ferrari confirmed that Mattia Binotto will leave the team after four years as team boss. Charles Leclerc thanked the Italian in a message on Instagram for the past years together.
It had been coming for a while, but the confirmation is now out for real: Binotto will leave Ferrari at the end of the year. Rumours about the team boss's departure had been circulating for some time. Ferrari would no longer be satisfied after numerous mistakes in the 2022 title race.
According to rumours, Leclerc and Binotto have not been talking to each other for months after all the mistakes at Ferrari. Fred Vasseur, current Alfa Romeo team boss, has been named as Binotto's replacement. Vasseur is a close acquaintance of Leclerc, as the two worked together when the Monegasque got a Formula 1 seat at Alfa Romeo.
Whether the relationship between Leclerc and Binotto is still OK, we will probably never know, but the Ferrari driver has thanked his team boss for the past few years at Ferrari. "Thank you for everything, Mattia. We have spent four very intense years together, with great satisfaction and also, inevitably, with moments that tested us. My esteem and respect for you have never diminished and we have always worked with total dedication to achieve the same goals. Good luck with everything", Leclerc writes under a photo together with Binotto on Instagram.
