It has been 47 years to the day since Formula 1 icon Graham Hill died in a plane crash. Twice the Briton was world champion, three times he finished second. Moreover, Graham - who lived to be only 46 - is the father of Damon Hill. They were the first father and son to win the title in F1.

Graham Hill himself was at the wheel of the plane in which five employees of the F1 team Embassy Hill had also taken their seats. The six were on their way back from a test at the French circuit Paul Ricard, when the plane ran into dense fog near Elstree Airport. Eventually, the plane crashed on the Arkley golf course. All occupants were killed in the process. Damon was 15 years old at the time and not in the plane.

Live!

Apparently, Damon gets asked every year if his father's death anniversary is a depression thing. On Twitter, Damon is now responding to that. He writes: "To those of you worrying the anniversary of my father's death is a depressing thing, all I have to say is, after 15 years of therapy, it doesn't bring me pain anymore! Death is what defines life. We cannot control it. But it is a fact that gives life its power. So Live!"
