Alexander Albon and Logan Sargeant were able to complete the Williams programme during the test day in Abu Dhabi without any problems. Sargeant had his first taste of the Williams car during an official test day, during which he also got to try out Pirelli's 2023 tyres.

Each driver worked his own programme during the test day, so the times driven do not say much about the session. Still, Sargeant was close to the times of his new teammate Albon. The American was able to do many laps during the test day to get comfortable in his new seat.

"Today went well. Throughout the day we gradually progressed, got through our test plan and completed all the laps we needed to do. By the end of the day I felt super comfortable. It was really nice to get a full day rather than a FP1 to properly get to grips with everything," Sargeant begins in Williams' press release.

No rest for Sargeant in coming months

It remained to be seen whether Sargeant would actually get a contract at Williams for 2023, as the young driver did not yet have a super licence. During the last Formula 2 weekend, however, he managed to accumulate enough points to secure the Williams seat. The team's official announcement followed on Monday.

Sargeant will have little time to take a holiday as he will spend the next few months preparing for the new season. "My season hasn't ended, there's a lot of work to do over the next three months to prepare myself for next season. I'll strictly be in the gym, on the simulator and working with everyone at Grove to ensure no stone is left unturned. I can't wait to be back out on track for winter testing for my first season in Formula 1."
