'Mercedes would be a sensible move for Schumacher'

It is starting to look more and more likely that Mick Schumacher will commit to Mercedes as a test and reserve driver next year. Toto Wolff has hinted at it on several occasions and Ralf Schumacher also thinks it would be a "sensible move" for his nephew.
Schumacher has to give up his seat at Haas to the more experienced Nico Hulkenberg, but the still young Schumacher has no intention of turning his back on Formula 1. The chances seem considerable that he will join Mercedes in 2023. A good choice, thinks Ralf Schumacher. He thinks Lewis Hamilton and George Russell can teach his nephew a lot.
'Mercedes wise move for Schumacher'
Ultimately, Schumacher's goal remains to return to F1. "As an intermediate step there, an engagement as a test and replacement driver with Mercedes seems likely. For Mick, this would certainly be a sensible move because he can work with a team that has a lot of experience and can help Mick progress," Ralf writes in his column for Sky Sports Germany.
"Hamilton is now at an age where he can pass on a lot to young drivers. All in all, it would be incredible for Mick to work with these two drivers and with such a team - especially because they want him. It is also a new experience for Mick after a year like this, to finally be in a team that stands behind him," Schumacher jabs at Haas.
Meanwhile, the door to Ferrari does not seem to be completely closed after all. Team boss Mattia Binotto admitted that the team wants to re-enter talks with Schumacher, but to what end is unclear. Earlier this year, it was announced that the German will retire from the Ferrari Driver Academy after this year.
