Max Verstappen took his 15th win of the season at the season finale in Abu Dhabi. Nico Rosberg thinks the Dutchman is already one of the best drivers of all time, and that while Verstappen has only just started.
Verstappen recorded a record number of victories this season, beating the record set by Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel. In addition, of course, the Dutchman also took his second world title in a row in dominant fashion.
"He is an incredible driver," says Rosberg at Any Driven Monday on Sky Sports. "I think it's easy to say even now that's he's going to be one of the best of all time, if you look at the statistics he actually even is now. He's a double world champion with all of the race wins that he has, more than [Fernando] Alonso."
'Verstappen one of the best of all time'
Verstappen has 35 Formula 1 victories to his name after the 2022 season. Rosberg is impressed by the 25-year-old driver's achievements. "He's already one of the best of all time and I think, he's only getting started. He's going to confirm that in the next decade, certainly. His level of driving is phenomenal and it's great to witness that."
While Verstappen was incredibly consistent, Ferrari had to watch as Charles Leclerc continued to sink further and further down after numerous strategic blunders and reliability problems. Rosberg stresses that we should not forget that the Red Bull Racing car was not the fastest car at the beginning of the year, as he says that was the Ferrari. "It's one of the greatest driving seasons we've ever seen," the one-time world champion says of Verstappen.
