The 2022 Formula 1 season is officially over after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, but most drivers still have to wait for their holidays. Indeed, on Tuesday, the post-race test will take place at the Yas Marina Circuit including the Young Driver Test. Many teams are using their new drivers for 2023, but there are also many rookies present.

The F1 teams will run two cars on Tuesday, one for super-licensed drivers and one for drivers who have not driven more than two Grands Prix. Both cars will test the new Pirelli tyres for 2023, which have been adjusted after the extended practice sessions in Austin and Mexico based on all feedback. The test day starts at 9am local time and runs until 6pm.

De Vries in the AlphaTauri for the first time

There are many familiar faces, such as Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez alternating duties today for Red Bull Racing, as well as Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz for Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton and George Russell at Mercedes. There are also several drivers who will be in action for their new team for the first time on Tuesday. Nyck de Vries, for instance, takes his first seat in the AlphaTauri car following a deal with Mercedes to be loaned out for the test day. Nico Hulkenberg will make his debut in the Haas.

Pierre Gasly also gets to take a seat in the Alpine for the first time, while Oscar Piastri has been given permission to drive for McLaren. Finally, Fernando Alonso will drive for his new team Aston Martin and Logan Sargeant may take a seat in the Williams. The American was officially announced on Monday as the second driver after gaining his super licence in the last Formula 2 race.

There are also plenty of well-known rookies taking part in the Young Driver Test on Tuesday, such as F2 champion Felipe Drugovich who is Aston Martin's new reserve driver. Jack Doohan, Frederik Vesti and Theo Pourchaire are also familiar names who will get the chance to test F1 cars on Tuesday. Vesti will be the only one making his debut in an F1 session.
